5ONE TRIP GRIP OUTSTANDING PRODUCT!  Nov 13, 2007
By G. Hendershot
IF YOU HAVE ARTHRITIS OR ANY CONDITION OF THE HANDS THIS PRODUCT IS FOR YOU. I HAVE TWO AND USE THEM EVERYTIME I GO GROCERY SHOPPING. I KEEP THEM IN THE TRUNK AND AS I PUT THE BAGS IN I PLACE THEM ON THE ONE TRIP GRIP. WHEN I GET HOME I SIMPLY PICK UP THE GRIPS AND CARRY THEM INSIDE. THE BAGS DON'T ROLL AROUND IN THE TRUNK AND YOU CAN SIT THEM DOWN AND PICK THEM UP WITHOUT FUMBELING AROUND WITH BAG HANDLES. VERY EASY ON THE HANDS AND FINGERS. GREAT PRODUCT AT A GREAT PRICE. I'VE USED THEM FOR 3 MONTHS. VERY SATISFIED.Sierra Housewares One Trip Grip Bag Carrying HandleSierra Housewares One Trip Grip Bag Carrying Handle

5Simple and handy.  Apr 01, 2009

I live in an apartment complex where they have one single dumpster that is over a block away from me to put our garbage in. I don't mind the walk so much (I need the exercise), but when those trash bags are heavy the handles bunch up and pinch at my fingers like nobody's fool. I end up with purple fingers from the loss of circulation. It wasn't until I saw somebody use one of these at my office building that I realized they even existed.

So I sought to get a pair for myself and I haven't regretted the action since. Now I just use the One Trip Grip to keep my hands from pain when I take my garbage out. The Grip is a simple design and easy to use. Just press the button and the latch opens. Hook your bags in and you're ready to rock and roll. The packaging says they can handle loads of up to about 40-50lbs and I believe it. Just make sure you hold it the way you see it displayed in the picture or you may cause unnecessary strain on the plastic.

I haven't used it for anything but taking out the garbage. However I do know I could be using it when we need to carry those plastic grocery bags in from the car, laundry bags that use those tie strings, when moving a mess of hanged clothes, and just about any time you have to carry something that by itself is difficult due to the handle. If you have a lot of times like the ones I mentioned where it would be a lot easier if you had a better handle this is the one to get.

2a hollow promise of functionality  Oct 07, 2009
By G. Wells
had two gallons of milk in two plastic bags hooked up to this, and the thing bent, unlatching itslef (the latch is weak anyway). while it seems designed to hold a lot of weight, in reality, it's not.

additionally, the curved shape causes the bags to slide together into one big car-crash, so there's less balance and maneuverability.

it's also about 4" tall, so that makes the bags four inches closer to the ground... short people, beware!

i have a cheap $1-store bag handle (with small hooks on each end) that does a better job. but because they're probably so simple & cheap, there's probably no profit margin on them... whereas thsi big useless doohickey is destined for the junk drawer, where it will collect dust for a decade and then finally be thrown away.

don't waste yer money.

2Not as sturdy as it looks.  Dec 01, 2009
By R. Metzelar
Doesn't hold as much weight as one would expect. Also, after a certain point the clasp begins to open on its own, forcing one to hold it at an awkward angle to keep bags from falling off. Bought this to help carry groceries up the stairs to apartment in complex with no elevator, while also holding infant, purse, diaper bag and keys. What's the point of purchasing? If groceries were feather light, they could easily be strung along someone's arm. Incredibly disappointed.

1Waste of Money  Apr 27, 2011

This unit can't handle normal grocery weight. The clasp snaps open under the weight of two regular grocery bags. Once open, the lower unit that carries the weight becomes unstable. It bows outward and wobbles under the strain. To accommodate, your wrist must change position as gravity pulls the grocery bag handles towards the now-open clasp. That puts a strain on the wrist and fingers, which is what this device is supposed to prevent. Failure to maintain that awkward position will cause your grocery bags to slip off the end of the device and spill to the ground.

If you're only going to carry lightweight bags of clothing, this unit might work for you. But be advised that the button that opens and closes the lock is difficult to operate if your hands are arthritic. The gray button must be pushed fully down to release the clasp.

Lastly, the grip on this unit is too thin and hard for comfort. If you've got to travel some distance between your vehicle and apartment or home, this device isn't going to please you. You'll either lose your groceries or hurt your fingers and wrists.
