The IM Store is from the I.M. Design Consortium, a partnership of Milwaukee-based IndependenceFirst and Chicago-based M Force, Inc. I.M. Design Consortium has experienced individuals with over thirty years of assisting aging adults and people with disabilities from all aspects of the community.

The company was created to blend together the partners' knowledge, experiences and resources to create meaningful products and services that allow aging adults and people with disabilities to remain active at home, at work, at play and anywhere in between.

But why would a non-profit organization enter into such a partnership?

Non-profits are constantly looking for ways to grow and diversify their funding base. Starting a for-profit enterprise and then funneling profits back into the non-profit is one way to do that.

With IndependenceFirst, they not only saw an opportunity to create an additional funding source, they also believed they could help create products which made people’s lives easier. Merging their expertise with that of the M Force network allowed them to begin doing that type of work immediately.
